Micky van de Ven Brace Halts The Toffees' Unbeaten Streak at New Stadium

Micky van de Ven found the net on two occasions as Tottenham prolonged their unbeaten run on the road in the Premier League and handed the Toffees their first defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton were unbeaten in their five previous fixtures at their recently opened stadium at the dockside location, having left Goodison Park behind after 133 years at the conclusion of last season.

The win elevates Thomas Frank's team up to third in the Premier League, five points off north London rivals and leaders the Gunners.

Everton stay in 14th position and are half a dozen points clear of the relegation zone.

Tottenham analysis: The defender fulfils duties at each end of the field

Following a uninspiring weekday display in the European competition against Monaco, where they managed a mere two shots on target, Frank chose Randal Kolo Muani up front instead of former Toffees player the Brazilian.

The new arrival was failed to make much of an impact before being replaced for the substitute after an hour on the pitch, but it emerged he proved unnecessary in the final outcome.

Centre-back the Dutchman converted into an offensive threat to be feared.

Everton's recent stadium had been a happy hunting ground, but it appears the novelty may have faded somewhat and fans flocked to the exits after the midfielder's final goal for Spurs.

The break in the team's unbeaten home run won't be a massive worry for David Moyes, but their striker situation are.

The forward and Thierno Barry - the Everton's pair of recognised strikers - had netted just one league goal between them before the weekend's outing.

And they were failed to contribute to that poor tally on a wet and gloomy night on Merseyside.
